Alan Muller

Born in Margaret River in 1953, Alan Muller achieved equal top marks in Western Australia for Art in his Leaving Certificate and was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship for tertiary studies at W.A.I.T (now Curtin University) in 1970. In 1977, he exhibited paintings professionally for the first time in the Seven Young Western Australian Artists at the Undercroft Gallery, UWA. His first solo exhibition was in 1980 at Fremantle Arts Centre. Three solo exhibitions followed at Gallery 52 Claremont that included two portraits that were the 1982 and 1983 finalists in the Archibald Prize, Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Muller has held 25 solo exhibitions including a twenty year retrospective of paintings at Wanneroo Cultural Centre in 2017. In 2019 he was feature artist in The City of Perth Council House exhibition called Tides: Swan River Stories.

His work is held in prominent collections such as Art Gallery of Western Australia, Artbank, Lawrence Wilson Gallery at UWA, ECU, Central TAFE, Royal Perth Hospital, Perth Children’s Hospital, the Cities of Perth, Stirling, Fremantle, Wanneroo, Armadale and Shire of Mundaring and significant private collections across Australia.
