- West Australian sculptor Jon Denaro’s professional art practice spans 25 years including numerous solo shows, projects, commissions, grants, prizes and teaching positions. Denaro’s sculptures are characterised by exploratory idiosyncratic work within the genre of ‘made by the hand of the artist’ as opposed to the seamless quality of industrialisation and technology. ‘I emphasise the decision pathways and hand tooling; I value the repair and mistakes and show their evidence, like a painter.’ His practice addresses the connections between art and science and draws obvious pleasure in those explorations.
