“Often the longest part of the process is finding old parts suitable for sculpture.”

James Corbett is an Australian artist best known for transforming discarded car parts, into highly detailed and beautiful metal sculptures. James now also incorporates a smattering of other interesting items, drawing inspiration from vintage automobiles, motorcycles, people, wildlife, and the occasional absurdity. Corbett blends together an attractive and deliberate balance of textures, from the very mechanical, to the patinated, and the delicate and intriguing, combining them into dynamic sculptures full of the illusion of life and movement. These are beautiful time capsules. Originally working in the automotive wrecking industry, he turned his fascination with mechanical forms into a full-time artistic practice in the late 1990s. His sculptures have been exhibited and commissioned internationally and he is celebrated for being at the forefront of lifting this medium to the highest level.
