Josh Windram

“Painting became my way of making sense of life’s chaos. It’s through the colors, shapes, and contrasts that I find balance and hope.”

Josh Windram is a contemporary Australian abstract artist based in the south-west of Western Australia. Born in the Adelaide Hills, he moved to Broome in the Kimberley region during his early teens. He grew up immersed in a creative environment through his family's framing business, Windram Art. It wasn’t until his early 40s, after a period of personal recovery and self-discovery, that he fully embraced a career in painting. Working from private studios in Vasse and Nannup, he explores the dramatic Australian landscape through bold abstractions, dynamic contrasts and vibrant colour harmonies in his art.

His work deeply reflects his life's challenges and transformations, often conveying themes of hope, resilience and connection to the natural world. Josh has received notable recognition, including the People’s Choice Award at the 2019 Bunbury Catholic College Art Extraordinaire and First Prize at the 2021 Vasse Art Awards. His evolving artistic practice captures the rugged beauty of Australia's scenery, inviting viewers to engage in a dialogue about healing and renewal and serving as a powerful source of inspiration.
