Crispin Akerman
“The subjects allow for the exploration of harmony, balance/tension, light and atmosphere. In still life these everyday items become great subjects for the study of objects in space.”
Born in England in 1960, Crispin Akerman moved to Australia with his family in 1966, settling in Western Australia. After years in the music industry as a member of Eurogliders, he shifted his focus to the visual arts. He studied at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney and later completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Canberra School of Art in 1992.
Crispin works from life, using everyday domestic objects—ceramics, fruit, drapery, and enamelware—to explore balance, tension, light, and atmosphere. His paintings are grounded in observation, offering quiet, considered studies of form and space.
Crispin Akerman has exhibited extensively throughout Australia and lives and works in Bunbury, Western Australia.
