Adrian Lockhart brings his new exhibition to the West, exploring themes of love, desire and sensuality through refined, minimal lines that often reflect feminine forms. Inspired by a lifelong passion for mark-making and the beauty of the human body, the work celebrates the individuality and diversity of love.
EROS: the Greek God of Love, or precisely, passionate and physical desire. Without warning Eros selects his target and forcefully strikes at their hearts, bringing confusion and irrepressible feelings.
“Love – the force of nature that exists within all of us, although manifesting itself in many different ways. And today, we are fortunate that individualistic and nuanced love and sex can be expressed openly and are broadly accepted. There is nothing to be afraid of in letting other people be intimate in a manner that suits them best. We are unique in our giving and receiving of love. The forms and lines are mostly feminine, but I like to think that the pictures represent, variously, the sensuality of women, men and couples. I have refined the form and movement of the body to just a few lines. And I hope the viewer can sense the power of Eros at work.” - Adrian Lockhart
