Objecticus Eclecticus

Cottesloe Gallery
1 May - 25 May 2025

Leon Pericles is a renowned Western Australian printmaker, painter, and sculptor whose work has been exhibited globally. His artistic practice embraces a wide range of mediums and materials, reflecting his diverse interests and deep curiosity about the world.

In this exhibition Objecticus Eclecticus, Leon presents his latest etching, Marks of Perpetual Significance, a work two years in the making. The etching explores the evolution of writing and the enduring meaning of marks and symbols across time.  “This etching has been something I’ve wanted to do as there’s fascinating variations in the marks mankind has used over time to communicate. It’s quite inspiring to see our evolution in agriculture, education and intelligence directly associated with methods of mark making. Writing and mark making is one of mankind’s greatest inventions.”

Alongside this piece, the exhibition features a collection of original works and sculptures, including some of his most popular etchings nearing the end of their edition.

Some of the works in this exhibition also incorporate interactive elements, allowing visitors to engage with the art in new ways and adding another layer to the exploration of Leon’s eclectic approach. Having exhibited all over the world, including a recent presentation at the prestigious Accademia di Belle Arti Bologna in 2023, Leon is proud to share this collection, which highlights his ability to fuse diverse influences, techniques, and cultural references into a cohesive and dynamic artistic vision.

Objecticus Eclecticus offers an opportunity to experience some of the wide-ranging interests and creative explorations that define Leon Pericles' distinctive artistic voice.
