This exhibition reflects Wendy Sharpe’s fascination with theatre, the world of imagination and escape. Burlesque at its best is satirical and irreverent, a contemporary form of Vaudeville and Sharpe, who has worked back stage with ballet, opera and circus, has a treasure-trove of iconic material at her finger tips. Winner of the Archibald Prize, the Sulman Prize and other major art prizes, she is one of Australia’s most awarded artists, and lives and works in Sydney and Paris.
