‘The Well’ continues Villicich’s research in bringing to life archetypal forms and imagery in the traditional medium of oil paint. ‘The Well’ represents that place within us all, a metaphoric image for the unconscious, “where primordial images and symbols emerge from and drown in our deepest emotions.” This evocative new body of work includes an artistic collaboration with dance. Jayne Smeulders (West Australian Ballet) has choreographed a response to the work. This artistic collaboration brings visual art together with poetry, music and dance, will be performed at the opening event and openend by Dr Stefano Carboni, Director of the Art Gallery of WA.
