"Having traveled to the Kimberley in 2013 on the Great Escape, I was very excited to be invited to explore the region a second time onboard the Ocean Dream. It’s always a challenge to paint the complex beauty and grandeur of this great wilderness and creating these works was no exception. I think I have learned a great deal from the two exhibitions I have created from the Kimberley references, I probably have a better understanding of the language of the rock formations, the subtle but intense colour transitions and the complex structure of the landscape. Four of the paintings were created using drone photographs kindly supplied by Salty Wings, who provide very arresting images of the West Australian coastline." Leigh Hewson-Bower 2019
