The Great Outdoors chronicles Michael’s ongoing investigation into urban and industrial environments and highlights his growing concerns with the relentless spread of modern technology and its overwhelming desire to consume all in its path. With expertly applied layers of boldly coloured paint skins on canvas, Jeffery creates a sense of ordered chaos, with text, numbers and shapes resembling codes or the abstract forms of an indecipherable language.  Miscellaneous fragments derived from urban and industrial landscapes are thoughtfully juxtaposed, culminating in a seemingly audible crescendo of visual noise as the final additions of spray paint and stenciling are added to each piece.
