Nine Artists - One Destination
Official Opening - Thursday 10 April at 6pm
Cottesloe Gallery
Located in Goolugatup Heathcote Arts Precinct, the Swan River Print Studio is a collective of professional artists working in the medium of fine art printmaking. Presenting their second exhibition with Linton & Kay, printmakers Dominique Coiffait, Jo Darvall, Katie Glaskin, Aileen Hoath, Kylee Larsen, Claire Lawson, Zali Morgan, Harvey Mullen and William Taylor explore the theme of JOURNEYS.
Collectively skilled in printing techniques which include etching, collagraph, lino-cut, monoprint, relief-print and stenciling, these 9 artists support each other to experiment and push the boundaries of their techniques beyond the traditional.
JOURNEYS share the artists' stories of life experiences, often reflecting how the environment and its elements sway their direction. Through their individual works, the artists explore themes of identity, migration, metamorphosis and connection.
"In this series, an ambiguous shape, an entity emerged and could be perceived in various ways. This entity has become many. Although what they are doing may be understood differently (floating? flying? migrating?), they are in a process of motion and change, journeying, in metamorphosis, as I am, as the world is." - Katie Glaskin
