SUMMONING THE SUNSHINE
Artist:
Jasper Knight, Miik Green, Diana Watson, Jeffery Mincham AM, Stewart MacFarlane, Celia Perceval, Philip Noakes
Location:
cottesloe
We are tempted with long, blue shadows in the painting “Two of Us Wearing Raincoats’ by artist Jasper Knight. As the rain lessens, the weather starts warming and we begin to summon the sunshine.
The Whadjuk Noongar people of Perth call the start of Spring Djilba (first Spring) -where the weather starts warming. For most of us, subtle changes in the wind, rain and temperature signify that we can start to leave Netflix behind and head outside to soak up more sunshine, spend time in the garden, plan little getaways…
September’s exhibition at Linton & Kay Cottesloe, draws on a collection of artworks that celebrate the changing of seasons. Together with Jasper Knight, artists including Diana Watson, Celia Perceval and Jeffrey Mincham remind us of this seasonal transformation as the landscapes start to sing and burst into colour. Playful paintings and sculptures by artists Stewart MacFarlane and Miik Green invite us to dream of warmer days to come filled with colourful holidays by the water’s edge.
