JOURNEYS
a meeting of Earth & Sky
“This small collection of paintings, some new, brings together the earth and sky by observing synchronicities and points of sacredness while walking and stargazing in the southwest regions of Western Australia. From capturing the invisible flight paths of sea eagles and hawks to quiet meditations on the ebb and flow of water bodies, each work is created through a process of distillation and extraction of the land, sea, sky, wildlife and rock formations.”
Stephanie’s work subverts conventional representations of nature as she creates new perceptions of the primal and untamed. Preferring to work large-scale with oils on canvas, she subverts traditional representations of the Australian landscape by capturing not the physical forms of things or places, but rather the energy and traces left behind. Capturing movements and gentle versus saturated colour, her paintings can be seen as moments in an unconscious journey. Celebrating 10 years since her first exhibition with Linton & Kay Galleries, Stephanie Reisch has grown her practice and her following with six solo shows and numerous group shows. Stephanie’s is held in private, corporate and public collections nationally including Artsource, Town of Victoria Park and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Art Collection. Commissions for the Intercontinental Hotel Perth, Hall & Prior Karingal Green, CBRE building and Echelon house by Giorgi.
