Inspired by her recent research in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Western Australia, Stephanie Reisch’s new body of painted works, Flocks and Intervals, attempts to capture the layering of time across the ages. The primal landscapes intuitively echo the majestic geomorphology of cave walls, ocean floors and open skies.
Each mark flickers in constant contrast between the form of the thing and the impact of its movement. Reisch strives to create a record not of the physical forms of things or places, but rather of the energy left behind by the constant expansion and contraction of the living universe, to give the viewer a sense of connection to all things.
