SARAH KEIRLE – FLORA, EARTH, FIRE
Artist:
Sarah Keirle
Location:
West Perth
Offical Exhibition Opening 6-8pmThursday 8th September
Influenced by the native seedpods found in the Perth Hills region, Sarah Keirle’s sculptural representation of iconic gumnuts, banksias and marri seedpods is a stunning three-dimensional modern take on traditional botanical work.
Sarah hand-builds her one-of-a-kind ceramic sculptures using a variety of techniques and a skilful method of firing using a Western adaptation of traditional Japanese raku.
These sculptures represent the intense environment Australians live in where the natural disaster of bushfires can be devastating but also important for regeneration and rebirth.
