  • about this exhibition
Often referred to as the ‘rainforests of the sea’ coral reefs form some of the oldest ecosystems on Earth and it is the beauty, fragility and interconnectedness of these systems that have inspired Broome based artist Claire Beausein who describes how …“the symbiotic relationships that sustain the coral reefs, and the myriad of sea creatures that depend upon them, symbolise for me the fragility of life and the infinite creativity and wondrous organisation of nature. The sensuality of organic forms inspires me to make textural works of handmade paper and oils on canvas - ideal mediums to pursue ranges of possibilities in surface and structure.” Australian novelist and short story writer Tim Winton will officially open the exhibition, raising awareness for the Australian Marine Conservation Society. In support of this, a portion of exhibition sales will be donated to the cause.
