5 - 27 SEPTEMBER, MANDOON ESTATE. Artist Talks Saturday 5 September 11:30am and 2:30pm Leading WA husband and wife artists Peteris (Peter) Ciemitis and Jillian Ciemitis are calling for the community to adopt an outlook of calmness and reflection during the pandemic. “Even though the west coast has been blessed by escaping the direct effects of COVID19 spreading through the State, our community response to the threat has put us all on an ‘emotional alert’. We bounce between either a heightened anxiety, or an overcompensating ‘abandon’ as we try to navigate through 2020.” Said Peter. “There is a need to pause, to take in surroundings and recover some calmness.” The artists have responded by putting together an exhibition that does exactly that; pauses to take in surroundings. Linton and Kay exhibition curator Karen Shirley said “‘Transect’ is a thought provoking, collaborative response by two internationally acclaimed artists working in different media on how change affects our sense of place on any transect, whether it be urban or rural”.
