Naked Beauty! A phrase that conjures images of places or people pared back to their essence, their essentials. In the hands of artists, the notion of Naked Beauty offers endless inspiration, from the classic nude to abstract landscapes. Some set it to music, others see it in a flicker of light, a bend of the breeze. To quote William Blake, “Art can never exist without naked beauty displayed.”
Naked Beauty celebrates the diverse creations of painters, photographers, sculptors ceramicists and etchers. Works on show include William Boissevain’s classic nudes, Wendy Sharp’s theatrical muses, underwater photography, surfing and sun, a cheeky nude by Dr Seuss - and many more.
