MINE – Matthew McVeigh 8 – 22 October

Artist:
Location: perth
 PERTH CITY

“The new work is based on my 4 years experience working on various art projects in the Pilbara with mining companies, indigenous communities and the education department. Last year I was employed as an artist in resident in Tom Price for three months. This experience impelled me to create this body of work for the exhibition “MINE”

The works explores the connections between the economic and social aspects of remote communities that have been built around the resource industry. This new work broadly looks at the impact of global trade and demand resulting from these industries, its impact on community culture, demographic change, environmental impact and aboriginal cultural heritage and awareness. The work celebrates the rich history of the Pilbara and questions the regions future” Matthew McVeigh
