Mel Brigg’s landscape subjects are tantalizingly familiar, evoking memories of place, locations well known and oft visited. But in fact, Brigg draws on his own memories of multiple places that become the painting in question as he examines and responds to the needs of each canvas.
With frequently autobiographical subjects, Mel’s interest in light and colour is conveyed through almost abstract dashes of paint that build to create lively, engaging surfaces.
Reminiscing is a collection of landscape and still life genres, with a dash of social narrative.
