Landscape as a visual arts genre has flourished since the 17th century and continues to grip the interest of artists and viewers alike. Five highly regarded contemporary painters give us a varied and reflective look at the Western Australian landscape, no small task given that the subject encompasses almost half a continent. Their focus extends from the forests of the South-West, through the sparsely vegetated Pilbara hills to the majestic ramparts of the Kimberley and the vast skies of the resource-rich outback.
