“Magic Carpet 2022 documents my immersion and expression of place via a transformational experience at Yellow Water Billabong at Kakadu (Gaagudju). I was enchanted by the Jacana and Jabiru living and breeding across floating fields and observed that the gentle movement appeared as a magic carpet brimming with life, propelling the ecosystem in its pure and infinite cycle – beautiful above, mysterious below and anticipating what is all around." Elsey is inspired by an unwavering love for nature, expressed through intricate landscapes and colour forms of abstract expressionism. She creates an articulation of life in perpetual movement, frequently on a dramatic scale. Elsey is absorbed in the natural world and the significance of our coexistence; through this lens, she creates tributes shaped by personal experiences.
