Jules Sher cannot ignore the vast scale, light and silence
that are particular features of the West Australian landscape.
In attempting to attain a sense of the tranquility and timelessness
of this landscape he has shifted focus from imitating
it to examining it. The horizon line is a constant throughout
all his work. Whether interpreting the dramatic relationships
between the elements of earth, air, fire or water; or capturing
the changes in colours during times of day or the varied
seasons, it acts as an anchor. Trust in his own vision and
ability has enabled him to develop an original idea and have
it arrive at an unexpected and exciting conclusion.
