8 FEBRUARY - 3 MARCH, WEST PERTH. Official Opening 2-4pm Sunday 24 February. To honour the memory and the legacy of the late Joseph Zago, Linton & Kay Galleries present Healing Colour II, curated from the last body of work created by this well-loved West Australian artist.
Zago was born in Zagreb, Croatia where he studied graphic arts. He went on to study painting in Paris, design in Rome and painting, sculpture and printmaking in Perth. Throughout his career, colour was of prime importance and this fascination led him to use the brilliant hues of oil enamel and metallic pigment. He explored what he termed the healing properties of colour in his later abstract expressionist work, a departure from the luminism of previous times. Now he embraced a spiritual affinity with the energy of colour expressed in dynamic and abstract form. These works are the testament to that passion for colour.
