OFFICIAL OPENING 6-8pm, Thursday 7th July 2022
We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land, the Noongar Aboriginal people of the Wadjuk tribe and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
NB: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are warned that the exhibition contains images and names of deceased persons.
The theme of ‘GET UP! STAND UP! SHOW UP!’ builds on the powerful messages delivered each year during NAIDOC WEEK. Linton & Kay Galleries take pride in presenting an exhibition of art by selected Aboriginal artists.
Sadly some of these artists are deceased but their work lives on. All are or were highly connected to country as custodians of lands, with great depth of knowledge of tribal law and Dreamings and were also immersed in important traditional ceremonies. Linton & Kay Galleries aim to showcase the contribution these artists have made and to celebrate their creativity and ambition. Their commitment over time has driven a world-wide interest in the First Nations of Australia and fuelled the impetus for change, understanding and recognition.
