about this exhibition
Until 17 March, Subiaco Gallery 2.
'Urban Landscapes' was primarily inspired by the unnoticed beauty of our urban environments, and the subversive adornment of stickers, tags, posters, and other street culture artefacts. Exemplified by the sticker culture of Japan, the smaller series of works are a kind of modern trompe l’oeil, with nods to both contemporary realism and pop art imagery. The larger works are striking set pieces from Perth’s streets and laneways, recreated on canvas, enhancing their innate beauty and encouraging viewers to seek out undiscovered art works in their own urban environments.'
