30 JULY - 21 AUGUST, SUBIACO. Official Opening Thursday 4 August, 6-8pm. "During a six week residency on Shikoku Island, Japan, I learned to make washi paper, soaked up the landscape of mountains punctuated by rivers and temples, and studied the art and culture of the people. With contemporary use of traditional Japanese techniques I have created new work that reflects upon nature and spirituality linked with place. It is informed by my interest in Japanese Buddhist and Shinto philosophies, my time in Japan and its cultural links with my hometown of Broome." Claire Beausein Exhibition opened by Jean Stewart, President of the Australia Japan Society of WA.
