Mikaela Castledine, Artist, Linton and Kay Galleries Perth

Mikaela Castledine

"My creative impulse is to make things out of anything that comes to hand; paper, thread, wire, wood or words."

Mikaela Castledine is an artist and writer born in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia and living in the Perth Hills. She is interested more in an exploration of material than in referencing particular themes and has been pushing the limits of paper collage in her two dimensional work and of crochet in her three dimensional pieces.

Since winning the 2013 Sculpture by the Sea Scholarship at Cottesloe with her first major sculptural work ‘Tokyo Crows’, Mikaela Castledine has produced many unique crocheted pieces for local and international private collections. Her award-winning work combines contemporary sculpture with thought-provoking messages and ideas. She has exhibited at both Cottesloe and Bondi Sculpture by the Sea, with more events to come.
