An exhibiting artist since 1992, Kate Elsey developed her own scraping technique using varying sizes of metal paint scrapers ‘sculpting’ oil paint into form. The inspiration behind Kate’s works comes from the beauty and theatre of the natural world in which she observes the way life interacts and connects with its evolutionary strength and fragility.
The structure of her work reflects the complexity of natures system using a strong tonal imagery. Elsey’s textural expression is consolidated into an abstracted composition inviting a range of interpretations.
Kate is currently working on sculpture and painting exploring the unique and intricate mechanisms of Australian flora and fauna.
