Janet is an experienced ceramicist whose work is inspired by connections between
the beauty of form and the joy of functionality. With more than 25 years as a Visual
Arts Educator, her personal practice has been enriched by the teaching
experience. This has sparked an enthusiasm to evoke an emotional and physical
connectedness in her work.

Janet’s experimentation with combinations of locally sourced minerals in her clays
and glazes strengthens the associations between material, object and place. The
importance of the maker’s mark is evidenced in her hand-building techniques and
thrown work and creates uniqueness in both her domestic and decorative ware.
