Georgia Zoric

We welcome Georgia Zoric to Linton and Kay as we show her work for the first time during Cottesloe Unveiled.

“I remember when I was little, the heavy feeling of being followed around by ‘little dark clouds.’ What I wouldn’t have given to be able to shoot them down with my trusty slingshot. To squeeze them dry of all those sad and fearful thoughts and let them go again, fluffy and white, to float on their merry way.” -Georgia Zoric

Using clay as her main medium, Georgia Zoric’s sculptures draw on the theme of ‘Ocean’ a constant backdrop in her life. In addition to the influence of the sea, Georgia draws inspiration from her deep and enduring love of children’s literature and illustration. Her characters, with their wind-swept beards and smoking pipes seem to have dragged themselves straight from the pages of a Herman Melville novel.

Living in the South West, Georgia was recently commissioned to create ‘The Postmaster General’ a 3-metre tall, 1.3-tonne hand-built ceramic sculpture that lives under the Busselton Jetty as part of the Underwater sculpture trail and artificial reef in Busselton.
