Since 1985 Douglas has journeyed many times to the north of Australia to paint the Pilbara, Kimberley, Murchison and Northern Territory with the North West remaining an endless source of inspiration for his arts practice.
“When starting to travel through the interior after the bitumen surrenders to dirt, images of the desert world begin to permeate. Distant horizons, majestic ranges of blue, pink and violet, a myriad of greens, yellows, blues and greys of the bush, colours of the evening lightshow, crisp clear air of early morning, red dust and dirt roads transcend the consciousness and one becomes lost in that sense of the expanse and the infinite, aware of a deep resonance and a dislocation of time and space.” Douglas Kirsop
Douglas’ paintings hang in private and corporate collections in Australia and throughout the world.
