Al Poulet’s abstract paintings capture his relationship with his immediate surroundings. Although they cast off the representational trappings of our reality, each painted mark and visceral line indexes the young artist’s connection to his home in Wedderburn. In Poulet’s work, we are moved to not only observe this landscape, but also become part of it. He infuses a freshness and a vitality into the well established vocabulary of pure abstraction.
Al Poulet was the Winner of the Paddington Art Prize in 2018. His work was featured in Australian House and Garden (2019). His work was presented at Sydney Contemporary, 2019.
