Alan Muller
Spirit of Place
Swan River

Linton & Kay Galleries is delighted to present Spirit of Place: Swan River, a new body of work by Alan Muller exploring water as the custodian of life and an enduring symbol of spirit.

Imagining a journey along Derbarl Yerrigan/Swan River from Walyalup/Fremantle to Katta Moorda/Darling Range some 200 years ago, Muller draws inspiration from Frederick Garling’s 1827 paintings of the river and surrounding landscape.

Born on Wardandi Noongar land in Margaret River and having lived most of his life on Whadjuk Noongar land in Perth, Muller brings a deeply personal connection to this landscape. His paintings capture the beauty of sky, water and changing light, while reflecting on the enduring place the Swan River holds in the life and character of Perth.
