“Colour, light and raw nature are the main inspiration in my painted
interpretations of the vast, remote land in Painted Earth. I traveled to
Mornington in the Kimberley, owned and run by the Australian Wildlife
Conservancy. The mighty Fitzroy River flows through Mornington,
carving immense gorges through the sandstone ranges, thus
revealing the forces that nature has exerted over the eons.” Douglas
