Ingrid Windram

Ingrid Windram

Ingrid Windram was born in Adelaide, South Australia, where she became a well-known artist after previously studying art full time at Stanley Street School of Art, and then at Hartley College of advanced education.

Ingrid now lives and paints in the Kimberleys, spending time experiencing the intrinsic language

Her works are mostly painted on Arches paper and large canvases, using various mediums including acrylics, gouaches, charcoal and oils.

The vibrant colours of the Kimberley landscape inspire Ingrid’s art.

Whilst inspired by these areas, her paintings are not replicas of a particular spot.

To minimise the impact of the landscape she often simplifies the information, to focus on light and colour, to generate a mood and define its spirit.

Ingrid has travelled extensively throughout the Kimberley regions on field trips, setting up camp in areas such as the Bungle Bungles, El Questro Station and many places along the Gibb River road.

Ingrid Windram has emerged as a very successful Australian artist with her paintings being represented in private collections throughout Australia and overseas.
